About the Washington County Historical Society

The Washington County Historical Society (WCHS) is a nonprofit (501(c)(3) organization dedicated to preserving, studying, and sharing the rich history of Washington County, Ohio. For decades, WCHS has served as a vital steward of the region’s heritage — safeguarding historic buildings, documents, artifacts, and stories that connect present-day visitors with the people, places, and events that shaped this corner of the Ohio Valley

Our history and mission

 

Since 1961, WCHS has been preserving the history of the people of Washington County, Ohio through the work of volunteers, the support of our members, donations, and the grants we have been able to secure for major projects. 

The purpose of the WCHS is to promote an understanding of the history of Washington County, Ohio by collecting, preserving, and making available to the public, that history, and its relationship to the region beyond Washington County.

WCHS is organized exclusively for charitable, educational, research, and scientific purposes. We are a  501(c)(3) non-profit organization
